100% EXTRA VIRGIN ITALIAN OLIVE OIL

European legislation (EEC Regulation No. 2568/91 and subsequent updates) has determined the minimum quality standards that olive oil must present in order to be marketed with the words “Extra Virgin Olive Oil”. The oil must be obtained by extraction using cold mechanical methods only, ie at controlled temperatures by law below 28 degrees celsius. The acidity of an extra virgin olive oil should never exceed 0.8%.

An Identity Card for extra virgin olive oil has been created in Italy.

Tradition within the oil

On 11 March 1896 Leone Enrico Fernandez Affricano registered the company at the Livorno Chamber of Commerce. The company, as recorded in old documents held in the family, had existed since the early 1800s. From the year of its foundation until 1920, the Fernandez Affricano company dedicated itself in particular to the activity of representation, in favor of which Henry had obtained numerous mandates for Livorno and its province from various agencies operating in different sectors: from soap items , talc, graphite and dyes to preparations for candles, wax and paraffins and to olive oils and chemical products in general.

In the first two decades of the 1900s the company continued its rapid rise overcoming the critical years of the first world war thanks to the hard work and commitment of Enrico’s two sons, Paolo and Fabrizio who, working together, lead the oil and the insurance sectors respectively.
